The city of Bratislava : History : The earliest settlers in Bratislava's history were called neolithic, dating back 5000 years BC. The Celtic empire came 100 years BC ago and took dwellings by the Danube region.
From the start of the 1st century to the 11th century, when Bratislava (Pressburg) became the border fortress for the Hungarian Kingdom, the region had changed hands from various tribes and empires. The Roman, Samo and Moravian Empires
all took control of the area, subsequently over nine centuries, from the 1st to the 9th century.
During the middle of 10th century, King Henrich III took seat in the castle and ruled the city. The city Seal first became public in the 13th century and the City's Coat of Arms was formed along the time when the city was given its royal free rights.
Ferdinand I. Habsbourg was appointed king in 1526 and Bratislava was then declared capital of the Hungarian Kingdom. During the 1600s, the army of Stefan Bockay led an uprising against the Habsbourgs and besieged the city.
In 1783, the city ceased to be the capital of the Hungarian Kingdom.

One of Bratislava's historical landmarks is the Devin Castle. This famous attraction has played a monumental role in the Slovakian past. It was occupied by the Celts in the 1st century BC; the Roman Empire made use of it as a military station;
and the Moravian Empire used it as a boundary fortress of the Hungarian state.

Die Stadt Bratislava : Bratislava, Pressburg, Pozsony ist eine alte Grenz- und Bruckenstadt, deren Wahrzeichen schon seit Jahrhunderten eine Burg ist, genannt der Hrad. Bratislava erhielt 1217 Stadtrecht und war von 1541 bis 1684 Hauptstadt des westlichen Teils von Ungarn. Die Ungarn verlegten ihre koniglichen Amtsgeschafte von Buda nach Pressburg, als deren Hauptstadt das heutige Budapest im Mittelalter von den Turken besetzt war. Die Stadt mit ihren historischen Gebauden, Platzen und Gassen ist ein großes Stuck Kulturgeschichte.

5000 pred n. l. Archeologicky dokázané osídlenie Bratislavy v neskorej dobe kamennej – v neolite.
1. st. pred n. l. Kelti si postavili opevnené osídlenie v Devíne a Bratislave, okrem toho tu zalozili keltskú mincovnu, kde sa razili známe strieborné mince známe ako biateky.
1. st. – 4. st. n. l. Krajina juzne od rieky Dunaj pod nadvládou Rímskej ríse.
5. st. – 6. st. Príchod slovanských kmenov.
623 – 658 Osídlenie v období Samovej ríse, prvého státneho útvaru Slovanov.
7. st. – 8. st. Územie Bratislavy sa stáva dolezitým centrom Avarsko-slovanskej ríse.
9. st. Vznik Velkomoravskej ríse, Bratislavský hrad – vojenské, administratívne a cirkevné centrum.
864 Prvá písomná zmienka o hrade Devín ako o silnej pohranicnej pevnosti Velkomoravskej ríse vo Fuldských análoch.
907 Prvá písomná zmienka o Bratislave ako Brezalauspurc v Salzburgských análoch v spojitosti s bitkou pod hradom medzi Bavormi a starými Madarmi.
10. st. – 11. st. Bratislavský hrad sa stáva dolezitou pohranicnou pevnostou Uhorska, sídlom zupana a kapituly.
